Jaguar details the technology behind the I-Pace

The Japanese OEM has revealed its all-new powertrain system which is set to be installed in 80% of Toyota vehicles by 2023. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the technology will feature a new continuously variable transmission (CVT), a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-liter hybridized engine unit.

Ferrari reveals limited edition F12tdf

Ferrari has revealed its new F12tdf, a special edition of its F12berlinetta grand tourer, which gets a 40ps power boost to 780ps.


The new model pays homage to the Tour de France – the legendary automobile endurance road race of the 1950s and 1960s, not to be confused with the annual cycling event.

Limited to 799 units, the F12tdf features an upgraded version of the 6.3-liter V12 engine that won the Best Performance Engine prize in 2013’s International Engine of the Year awards.

As well as producing 780ps at 8,500rpm (close to the car’s red-line at 8,900rpm), the naturally aspirated 6,262cc 65-degree V12 produces maximum torque of 705Nm (up from 690Nm) at 6,750rpm with 80% available at 2,500rpm.

The F12tdf races from 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds, from 0-200km/h in 7.9 seconds and on to a maximum speed that Ferrari says is in excess of 340km/h.

The Italian manufacturer says that numerous modifications have been developed for this version of the engine, starting with race-inspired mechanical tappets and variable-geometry intake trumpets used on Formula 1 cars, which help boost volumetric efficiency at high revs.

Weight-saving across the engine and F1-based DCT have contributed to an overall weight saving of 110kg over the standard F12berlinetta. The dry weight of the F12tdf is 1,415kg.
