Audi reveals RS 5 engine
Audi has confirmed that the RS 5 Coupe will be powered by the company’s 4.2-liter FSI engine. Based on the V10 FSI that drives the R8, the 4.2-liter unit has been tweaked to deliver 450bhp at 8,250rpm and 430Nm of torque at between 4,000 and 6,000rpm. RS 5 Coupe’s V8 heart is mated to Audi’s seven-speed S Tronic twin-clutch transmission, and such a combination allows Audi’s latest RS product to sprint to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electrically capped to 155mph. Audi says the RS 5 Coupe is good for 26.2mpg on combined, and this fuel economy rating is partly realized thanks to the engine’s on-demand oil pump operation and energy recovery technology during coasting and braking. Emissions are rated at 252g/km of CO2.
