McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Controls & Electronics Engineer – Software (Ricardo)

 Key Responsibilities

• Development and unit testing of advanced control systems software

Everyday tasks will include:

• Control algorithms design and/or implementation
• Software validation and verification
• Rapid prototyping of control systems
• Customer interfacing for technical elements of projects

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Skills

• Experience of control system requirements capture, algorithm design and test
• Experience of at least one auto-code generation tool chain (including model base design)
• Ability to understand low level programming languages and experience in embedded controllers is beneficialAnalytical approach to developing controls algorithms in an automotive environment
• Familiarity in use of real-time calibration tools beneficial
• Familiarity with test-bed and vehicle based calibration
• Proficient in English and Mandarin languages (written and spoken) for project and technical communication

Personal Attributes

• Robust character with strong self drive and motivation.
• Organized and rigorous with personal target of high quality delivery
• Strong information transfer and inter-personal skills
• Focussed on delivering results and working as an integral part of a programme team
• Being able to work under pressure and self-manage own time deadlines
• Willingness to do some travel (within China and possibly abroad)

Knowledge

• Qualified to degree level with technical background in vehicle controls design and / or implementation
• Good knowledge of rapid prototyping control systems
• Understanding of transmission, engine, vehicle concepts and operation
• Literate in IT systems (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Familiar with software quality processes (including ‘V cycle’) and related tools
• Awareness of system level safety requirements and related standards (including ISO 26262) beneficial
