JOB SUMMARY:
Technical leader for Powertrain major hardware development projects – with specific focus on base engine hardware and engine application. Key Powertrain technical lead for engine projects, leads and mentors less experienced engineers in engine hardware development. Provide detailed development testing plans and engine technology insertion plans. Supervise dyno testing and implement advanced development procedures, requirements and specifications. Lead new engine technology and new testing methods. Develops, implements, and maintains engineering procedures, requirements, and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Uses experience and engineering principles to develop and specify test procedures and equipment necessary to conduct performance and system development testing on Polaris engines. Responsible for data integrity and all technical aspects of the testing process. Report with common data output format and testing conclusions.
2. Coordinates testing aspects of new hardware development projects: develops test criteria, systems requirements specifications, sets goals, objectives and schedules.
3. Lead large technical projects directing a group of technicians and engineers to meet project goals. Mentoring less experienced engineers in Powertrain hardware development.
4. Participate in all applicable Product Group’s development process to ensure that applicable limits, test procedures, certification requirements, and appropriate control technologies are addressed.
5. Represent technology interests within engineering to ensure that Powertrain engineering (including outside suppliers) develop technologies that properly meet current and future specifications for the applicable Product Lines. Implement technology projects into new production programs.
6. Recommends and influence new designs or improved engine components, while working very closely with the design group. Prepares and presents formal documentation as required.
7. Lead root cause failure analysis at end of test. Find and recommend practical solutions for specific failure modes. Key participant in DMFEA.
8. Testing and failure analysis support for specific engine assembly production problems.
9. Records and analyzes test data using statistical, analytical, and other state of the art techniques. In a professional manner, researches alternatives, and implement solutions to meet design objectives.
10. Interact and direct resources at multiple Powertrain and product group engineering sites.
11. Provide technical leadership and training for engineers in the various Polaris facilities.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE 
BS or MS engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years of engine hardware development related experience.
