Advanced Lead Engineer – Acoustics (GE Aviation)

Bangalore, India

The GE Aviation Lead Engineer provides noise margin estimations for new turbofan engines using legacy data and cycle information as well as noise margin estimates for new engine architectures like open rotor. The Acoustics engineer uses Computational aero acoustics (CAA) as well as Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to understand fan and jet noise.

Essential Responsibilities
• The acoustics subsection is responsible for GE Aviation's commercial engine noise estimation, technology development for noise mitigation and engine certification for noise
• Candidates for this position should expect to be involved in solving acoustics problems, acoustic prediction of new engines and supporting/participating acoustic engine tests
• Provide engineering support, in acoustics, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
• Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools

Qualifications/Requirements
Masters/PhDs in Aerospace/Fluid Mechanics/Propulsion specialization with strong academic track record.
7+ years experience with at least 3 years of experience in a lead engineering position

Desired Characteristics
• Good knowledge in Acoustics
• Very good understanding of Gas Turbine fundamentals
• Knowledge in turbo machinery aerodynamics
• Knowledge in CFD
