McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Lab Technician (Sterling Power)

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Salary: Competitive

Position Summary:
Lab Technician will support development and validation testing on Stirling Power products, a commercial electrical power generator. This position will work independently or part of a small team that manages the day-to-day activity of the test area. The Technician prepares then tests company product or sub-systems in test cells, records the data, then prepares the product for the next test. Primary Responsibilities:
 Accept test plans and perform the specified tests as requested.
 Set up test cell as required for testing (cooling, fuel, air, instrumentation, etc.)
 Perform test to plan, documenting test results and reviewing with team members.
 Incorporate changes; perform engine rebuilds and re-tests as needed.
 Support Operations and Product Support as required.
 Maintain general safety, organization and cleanliness of the test area.

Qualifications:
 An Associates’s degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
 Three to four years experience in laboratory testing support or mechanical assembly experience.
 ASE certification, aircraft mechanic certification a plus.

Requirements:
 Must be mechanically inclined; engine rebuild experience a plus.
 Candidate must be able to work independently; and be able to take initiative.
 Able to disconnect and connect 480V/110V electricity, copper piping, natural gas and sensors and test equipment.
 Must be timeline driven and able to meet schedules.
 Must be able to document data and ensure useable by Engineering and other users.
 Must be flexible to assist Manufacturing in new product build or Product Support in field service as workload allows or requires.
 Must have a history of safe work around electricity, operating machinery, and fuel sources. (ex. Practiced at Lock Out/Tag Out.)

Core Skills:
 Computer literate; proficient in MS Word and Excel, Windows and Outlook
 Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Attention to detail and accuracy
 Well organized with a sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines
 Able to lift 50 pounds
 Some travel to customer sites may be required (10%)
