Advanced Engineering Designer (Nemak)

Southfield, Michigan

 The Advanced Engineering Designer performs Computer-Aided Design (CAD) activities aimed to optimize part “castability” (suitability of part design for the casting processes). The position will work together with Customer engineers, Nemak’s Advanced Engineering Project Leaders and Advanced Simulation engineer during the first phases of Part Design.

Main responsibilities
• Performs computer-aided design (CAD) activities aimed to elaborate the 3D product and tooling models needed to make Casting computer simulations while working together with Nemak’s Advanced Simulation Engineer.
• Performs computer-aided design (CAD) activities aimed to design High Pressure Die Cast (HPDC) products required to cast prototype parts. As well as the design of the tooling required to produce each HPDC core while working together with Nemak’s Advanced engineering Project Leaders and Rapid Prototyping Engineer.

Requirements
• Engineering degree in one or more of the following: Design, Mechanical, or Automotive
• English language
• Must have experience with High Pressure Die Casting
• Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD design (preference in Powertrain components) using software NX and /or CATIA.
• Must have a well-developed understanding of tooling design for aluminum casting processes, including the ability to read and understand product design drawings.
