McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Engineer – Hardware Design

Ängelholm, Sweden

Salary: Competitive salary

Work on a highly intelligent, lightweight and motivated team to achieve our goal of revolutionizing the combustion engine with Freevalve technology. A Freevalve design engineer works closely with the calibration and electronics development teams to discuss advanced concepts and take responsibility for bringing them to life on the engines. You will be given large ownership over components and must rely on intuition and experience to ensure that these parts will perform to the highest automotive standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with people from all levels of the company to design future concepts, improve existing concepts and manage hardware
  • Act as primary point of contact of contact with suppliers and help expand existing network to advance manufacturing possibilities
  • Take ownership of components to meet high-level deadlines
  • Develop parts inspection and testing procedures to ensure hardware quality
  • Maintain parts organization from bill of materials, hardware storage, assembly and test history

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical / automotive engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in advanced technology design with 3D modeling techniques
  • Experience in design with weight, cost, packaging and performance targets
  • Basic knowledge of combustion engine operation, 2 and 4 stroke
  • Thorough understanding of hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
  • Take initiative and be a strong, constructive member of a team

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • - Masters degree in mechanical / automotive engineering
  • - Advanced knowledge of combustion engines and current technology
  • - Proficiency with Catia V5 or similar (Boolean operations, model building practices)
  • - Familiarity with prototype and mass-production oriented design targets and methods
  • - Hands-on experience with engine dyno / vehicle installations
  • - Basic fabrication and manufacturing experience
  • - History of personal projects related to combustion engines
