Project Manager - Quality(Volvo)

Position Description


GTT Q&CS Project Quality & Safety (PQS), North America, is currently seeking a Project Manager of Quality (PMQ) for its Hagerstown location. As a PMQ, you will be a key player within Product Project Management Team(s); as such, you will drive Product Quality initiatives within assigned projects to ensure its success of meeting our Company’s and Customers’ expectations.

Primary Position objectives & responsibilities

  • Represent all QCS inside assigned Project Management Teams (PMT) to align and drive GTT, GTO & GTS agreed quality targets with project planning and actions
  • Cross functionally lead the creation, planning and execution of a Product Projects’ Quality Assurance Plan (i.e. Risk Screening, consolidated view of functional Quality Tool Plans (QTP), Proactive Tracking status)
  • Assess, report & drive gap closure within Project Management Team
  • Cross-functionally establish and anchor product quality related targets & strategies for assigned Projects (i.e. PROTUS, Fault Frequency, Warranty Surcharge, Product Audits)
  • Support the Project’s Chief Project Manager in product quality and project quality risk,
  • Represent, report & provide gate recommendations / status of assigned Projects within QCS-PQS governance forums for assigned projects
  • Perform reliability analysis and related task to complete fault failure estimations and planning on Powertrain projects
  • Support project team in the understanding, need and use of the project’s quality tools (risk analysis, FMEA (S, D, P), DFA, DFAM, APQP, etc
  • Support PQS Safety Engineering & audit function in meeting project objectives
  • Support PQS Project Gate auditor(s) to ensure gate audits carried out in an efficient & Work in accordance to DVP / RnD30 principles,
  • Participate in assigned continuous improvement programs related to project processes, team improvement, etc.

Your profile

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Masters degree preferred)Quality Engineering and / or management experience will be afforded preference
  • Product Development Projects experience (with a minimum of 5 years of product engineering experience)
  • A passion for our customers relative to product uptime & availability
  • A sense of urgency for proactive initiatives
  • A self-starter & engaged employee
  • A convincing approach with oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English, both written and oral
  • Experience of Quality tools and DVP/RnD30 development methods will be afforded preference
  • Six Sigma, & related quality statistical skills/tools knowledge & experience will also be afforded preference
